Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Breaking with Europe” (June 25). Hats off to the people of the UK for voting to remain outside the European Union in the nation-wide referendum. It is the voice of the people. Immigrant problem is there in every country, not to speak of India. It eats into the comforts of the local people. The UK has no freedom to decide on subjects like foreign relations, human rights etc. It takes the rights of the locals in employment, economy and other ares of human activity.
So, the decision of the people should be respected. Britain Prime Minister David Cameroon should be congratulated for respecting the sentiments of the minorities to go in for a referendum. However, we must wait and watch how events unfold. Hope India too takes a cue and solves the immigrant problem as early as possible.
