Re-shaping leadership

NS Rajan

Sir — This refers to the report, “land Bill pro-rich, alleges Rahul” (April 20). If Mr Rahul Gandhi is really serious about reviving the moribund Congress, ostensibly the principal object of his two-month getaway from the hurly burly of political India and its current affairs, one sure way of starting on the right foot can be immediately to take over as the leader of the party in the lok Sabha and actively participate in the debates with appropriate interjections, while strictly avoiding the ‘rushing to the well of the House’ syndrome. He must clearly spell out what his vision, if any, is for the country’s future.

Unless he can successfully do this, merely attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP on the land Bill and on everything else that the Government is doing, and that too without providing concrete evidence to back his claims, he will only induce ennui and not make him the leader that his party desperately desires at the moment.
