Sir — The Supreme Court’s curb on ‘politically motivated’ Government advertisements is laudable. But it is not clear why the apex court has allowed photographs of even the President, the Prime Minister and the Chief Justice of India in Government advertisements. If conveying official information is the goal of such advertisements, then photographs are not required.
The new policy is still raw and needs to be fine-tuned. While a neta’s personal glorification at public expense is despicable, it is vital that the Government’s genuine achievements are not hidden from the public eye.
