Rajan is a man of action, must serve second term

Vinod C Dixit

This refers to the report, “Rajan ends speculation, doesn't want 2nd term” (June 19). Reserve Bank of India Governor Raghuram Rajan’s credentials are impressive as not only does he have high academic qualifications, but he has also held top international positions. Therefore, to analyse and to point out mistakes in his complicated policy decisions will be difficult for good economists. His background is an open book of intelligence, integrity and innovation. He should be given due respect by extending his tenure.

India needs many Rajans at this time when mediocrity is ruling the nation. At a time when India is currently having dearth of people with knowledge, vision and honesty, Rajan is a beacon amongst almost all other mediocre. He is a man of action and if he criticises anything there must be a reason. An economist can save the whole society with the study of economic principles.
