Rahul must introspect

M Ratan

Sir — This refers to the report, “Gujarat results ‘zabardast jhatka’ to BJP, says Rahul” (December 20). Repeated assertion of Congress president Rahul Gandhi that the Gujarat election results were a severe jolt to the ruling party and Prime Minister Narendra Modi as they have “lost credibility” with the people of Gujarat and his constant attacks on Modi, ridiculing his claims of success for his vikas model, and then, in the same breath, trying to take a high moral ground, saying that ‘one can defeat opponents only with love and brotherhood’, seem hypocritical.

It is beyond belief that instead of introspecting for his party’s electoral fiasco, one after another — Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat — Rahul Gandhi seems delirious and not worried. The decline in voter percentage among various groups, namely, patidar, OBC, Dalit, appears no concern to him. One recent survey noted that if general elections are held now or later, 79 per cent of the electors will vote for Modi against 15 for Rahul Gandhi.
