Sir — This refers to the article, “Imagine a fatwa against Rafi” (April 8) by Rajesh Singh. Mohammed Rafi deserves the country’s highest civilian award, the Bharat Ratna. He was a fine man.
One of his sons, Shahid Rafi, has unwisely dragged down his father’s memory by joining the Congress and issuing statements about so-called intolerance in the country. Rafi fans, whose number runs into millions, will appeal to him to desist from such remarks, at least out of regard for his father, who remains a legend and a titan loved by people from all communities.
