Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Hounding a sane voice” (October 10). It is disappointing that the Shiv Sena forcefully cancelled the concert of Pakistani ghazal singer Ghulam Ali. The Sena has reportedly argued the concert would hurt the emotions of patriotic Indians. Which Indians was the Sena referring toIJ What patriotism was served by blocking a music concertIJ
Ghulam Ali and other Pakistani singers like Mehdi Hassan, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Abida Parveen have performed in India for many years and been immensely popular.
