This refers to the editorial, “The grand comeback” (November 9). A combination of social engineering, coupled with fear psychosis among minorities and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s pro-development image, led to the landslide victory of the grand alliance.
It was perhaps the most cantankerous and divisive State election witnessed in the country. It is not just the BJP, but the entire political class, that should take lessons from the Bihar result. The defeat of the BJP will definitely have national ramifications and the immediate casualty will be the controversial Goods and Service Tax Bill pending before Parliament, as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reforms agenda.
