PM accountable

NS Rajan

Sir — This refers to the report, “Odisha nails PMO’s lie” (October 31). The affidavit of the Odisha Government, filed before the Supreme Court, can only lead to one conclusion: That the CBI’s cases against Mr Kumar Mangalam Birla and former Coal Secretary PC Parakh, with the latter suggesting that the Prime Minister should be as much an accused as he himself, led to a frantic, self-saving, finger pointing exercise by the Congress, in which the party threw the entire blame on Mr Parakh and the State Government.

The ingenuous plea that the Prime Minister cannot be expected to read every page of something he officially signs, stands exposed as hollow for the simple reason that he would be fully briefed about the contents by highly competent officers in the Prime Minister’s Office.
