Sir — This refers to the report that the Congress has decided not to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi for a function to mark Jawaharlal Nehru’s birth anniversary. During the freedom movement, there was no party other than the Congress, and the Congress then belonged to the nation. Now it is a political party belonging to a particular family. The Congress, therefore, cannot appropriate all the freedom-fighters and claim ownership over them. Not inviting Mr Modi can take confrontational politics to a new level.
