Sir — This refers to the article, “Now, States will decide nation’s foreign policy!” (March 29) by G Parthasarathy. The loser will be India, and especially Tamil Nadu, which has major opportunities in infrastructure development projects in Sri lanka. Much of the outbursts by the DMK and the ruling AIADMK in the State are attempts at posturing for local consumption.
What is left unsaid in all this is the role of the church and the Christian educational institutions which heavily backed the liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam. They see the defeat of the lTTE as a defeat of the Christian dream to set up an independent State incorporating parts of Tamil Nadu and Sri lanka — a sort of Christian Pakistan.
