This refers to the article, “Exit Aurangzeb, enter APJ Abdul Kalam” (September 15) by A Surya Prakash. A student of Indian history told me that “There seems to be nothing in the Indian history between Ashoka and Akbar”.
This is (and still is unless history books have recently been re-written) obviously because the Mughals were the darling of Jawaharlal Nehru and the Mughal period was the golden age of Indian history. It was unfortunate for India to have such a biased Prime Minister during the first phase of the post-independence era. Hopefully, that phase is over now, never to return again.
