Parliament mess shows Congress degradation

M Ratan

This refers to the editorial, “Strategy of disruption” (December 15). The mess in Parliament highlights the moral degradation and decline of the Congress and its top leadership. Rajya Sabha, where the Congress has a majority, is thoroughly dysfunctional. Important legislations meant to help the poor, are in a limbo, despite the relentless efforts of the Government including the Prime Minister and the Union Ministers for Finance and Parliamentary Affairs.

An obvious cause for the Congress’s obstinacy could be its plan to not let the BJP-led regime take credit for the adoption of the Goods and Services Tax Bill, which was the former’s baby. What is further saddening is the Congress leadership's blatant and shame-faced usage of lies to malign the Government as an excuse to disrupt Parliament. Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's latest lie was that he was not allowed to visit an Assam temple by RSS workers.
