Letter to the Editor

Over-estimating oneself

Magoa

Sir — This refers to the article, “Some poetic wisdom for embattled BJP” (April 24) by Rajesh Singh.

It is one of the best political pieces that I have read in recent times. What the writer has expressed is the opinion of sensible citizens who are distressed by the state that the Congress-led UPA Government has reduced the country to.
The ruling alliance consists of a group of lawyers who know how to manipulate the system so as to cover up the corruption of their colleagues. This Government’s tenure will go down in the country’s history as its most tragic political period since Independence.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will also pay for his overly high ambition of trying to do what Mr Naveen Patnaik has achieved in Odisha — although even the latter is in for a big shock himself. Mr Nitish Kumar will face opposition not only from the BJP but also from the RJD, the RlD and the Congress, which will divide the minority votes — the same votes over which he is today willing to snap links with the BJP.
This could be the beginning of the end of the Nitish Kumar story. A survey showed earlier that the BJP will gain considerably in Bihar due to polarisation if the JD(U) breaks away from the BJP-led NDA.
Now, the BJP should not hesitate to invite Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to campaign in Bihar, and ignite nationalistic sentiments which have not been expressed for almost a decade now, under the spineless incumbent regime at the Centre.
