Sir — This refers to the report of a Sena leader trying to force-feed a Muslim caterer when the latter was observing his Ramzan fast. It is disgusting that some of our TRP-hungry news anchors debated the ‘pictures that don’t lie’. There is no doubt that the high-handedness of Shiv Sena leader Rajan Vichare should not go unquestioned and unpunished. It is condemnable and unbecoming of an elected representative.
Yet, even a layman would understand that Mr Vichare had no intention to insult the religious sentiment of the victim. Nor can the incident be termed ‘force feeding’. The debate has made a mountain out of a mole hill, thereby resulting in communalisation of the issue. It is not proper for the media to drag the Prime Minster into the petty behaviour of a leader.
