This refers to the editorial, “Politics of disruption” (December 22). The editorial correctly highlights the sinister designs of some Opposition parties led by the Congress to deliberately stall Rajya Sabha proceedings. It is a pity that almost the entire Winter Session in the Upper House should have been a washout only because of insistence on the Opposition's demand that the Prime Minister himself speak on an issue that anyone in the Government could answer. Why this silly insistenceIJ
While the Trinamool Congress is pursuing a self-serving agenda, the Congress is seeking only the cheap thrill of embarrassing the Government with the help of Opposition numbers in the Rajya Sabha. But what is even more lamentable is the role of the media which has been rather kind to this wanton and boisterous blocking of business, when earlier it always singled out the BJP for similar behaviour, calling the conduct a “murder of democracy”.
