Sir — This refers to the article, “New political order in Naypidaw” (March 17) by Mayuri Mukherjee. Democracy has won in Myanmar and there is no doubt that NlD chief Aung San Suu Kyi will be the power behind President Htin Kyaw’s throne. Suu Kyi’s balancing act in the Government will be a big test for her — she mustn’t be dictatorial.
The Army-backed party may have lost the election but the military still holds 25 per cent of the parliamentary seats. This will be a big problem for the new civilian regime.
