Sir — This refers to the article, “Friends on Earth, friends in space” (September 30) by Ashok Dixit. The Indian Space Research Organisation’s successful mission to Mars is a huge achievement for the country and also a great success in the world of space research. India is now in the elite group of entities which has sent successful missions to Mars. It will certainly boost space research in the country and also encourage students to make their career in space science.
The development will also help our neighbouring countries. It is a great opportunity for our neighbours to collaborate with India and seek our expertise in science. India’s proposal to launch a satellite for the benefit of South Asian Association for Region Cooperation is in that direction.
