Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Cultural fascism at work” (March 18). The Congress has always pandered to Muslim communal forces. In 1919, Mahatma Gandhi pampered Muslim communalists by supporting the Khilafat issue, which he claimed was an opportunity for Hindu-Muslim unity. The Congress till then had remained aloof to religious matters and followed ‘secularism’ in letter and spirit. But Mahatma Gandhi changed it all.
