Need dialogue

Devendra Khurana

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “A peaceful roadmap”, (August 5). Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj has rightly stated that war can’t be the answer to the stand-off between India and China in Doklam. Her pacifying tone is likely to ensure that India and China are not to escalate tensions any further. Chinese Counsulate General in Kolkata, Ma Zhanwu, has also struck a conciliatory note by saying that shared interests between India and China far outweigh any differences and that both countries should resolve this issue through rational, constructive and objective means. So, there is a need for both countries to engage in a meaningful bilateral dialogue to ensure that the Doklam stand-off is resolved soon.
