More vindictive than sincere

Sir — The expulsion of eminent lawyer and senior leader Ram Jethmalani from the BJP is the inevitable consequence of his defiance and frequent rebelliousness. After his expulsion from the BJP, Mr Jethmalani has vowed to ‘expose’ the undesirables in the party.

Ironically, this ‘expose’ is being viewed by the public more as a vindictive action against his expulsion than a sincere attempt to cleanse the party or serve the interest of the nation. Nevertheless, Mr Jethmalani should match his words with action.

Also, the BJP should introspect and take corrective action if Mr Jethmalani’s allegations prove to be true. However, if they are false, Mr Jethmalani will be exposed for the hollowness of his claims and will lose his credibility. Known to create a flutter with his statements, he should have sorted out the differences with party leadership in the party forum. By challenging the leaders to take action against him he pushed the party to expel him for six years.

Unfortunately, Mr Jethmalani is using his experience/expertise more to produce heat than light. In the given situation, the BJP has rightly done what any other party would have done. He must come clean on his words.
