Modi's marriage isn't an issue to be politicized

It refers to the confession in a poll affidavit by BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi regarding his marital status. Circumstantial and oral evidences establish beyond doubt that his marriage was a social-binding of the 1968-era of illiteracy and other factors, especially in poorer families. It was the mutual consent between husband and wife which allowed Mr Modi to dedicate his life for a cause while his wife opted for a self-dependent school-teacher role. Both have maintained respect for and devotion to each other.

Mr Modi's opponents should not politicise the issue since it is a personal matter. Even if they had to attack personal lives of those in rival camps, there are cases to be exposed of some top-ranking and internationally-renowned Indian leaders who have had undeclared live-in relationships. But there seems to be an under-the-table understanding among Indian politicians, cutting across party lines, to not expose the deeds of each other.
