Misusing law

Manish Garg

Sir— This refers to the news report of the abduction and marriage of a Hindu underaged girl in Pakistan. Recently, the Pakistani Government had passed a law by which Hindu marriages could be registered. It is surprising that it was denied to the persecuted minority for 70 years. As per this, for a Hindu marriage registration, a Hindu girl age has to be minimum 18 years of age and the man, 21. But for a Muslim girl, the minimum age limit is 16 years. This gap of two years is deliberately kept  between a Hindu girl and Muslim girl.

In such a feudal country with Islamist hegemony, the law has given two years to abduct any Hindu girl and convert her to Islam and then marry legally. Whether it is abduction or showing it as elopement with threat of physical harm, is of no matter. This has been the case in the news report also, where the girl aged 16 years was abducted and the case shown as elopement. Hindus in Pakistan have to wait till 18 years when they can marry their daughters legally and have to pass the dreadful period from when she is 16 years to attaining her 18 years.
