Missing ideology

N Ramamurthy

Sir —This refers to the report, “Bhushan fire singes AAP, firefighting on” (January 7). Mr Prashant Bhushan and his Aam Aadmi Party have claimed that the media has distorted the statements he made on the deployment of the Army in Kashmir. This is a typical refuge that politicians resort to when they are trapped by their own ill-thought out statements.

This is not Mr Bhushan’s first blunder. Two years ago, he, as a member of Anna Hazare’s India Against Corruption, had advocated a ‘referendum’ on Jammu & Kashmir’s accession to India. Now that the AAP has decided to fight the lok Sabha election in a big way, it should clarify its stand on matters of national interest.

So far, the party hasn’t announced its policies on the economy, foreign affairs, defence and other matters. Since the party is campaigning for ‘transparency’, it should place its ideology before the voters and convince them on how its governance will be different from that of the BJP and the Congress.
