Mind your conduct

Y Myank

Sir — This refers to the article, “The lawyer who’ll burn his daughter” (September 18) by Rajesh Singh.

Once, while appearing in court, BR Ambedkar had refused to respect the order of a judge on the ground that he was bound to obey the order but not respect it if the verdict did not fit in his mind. Mr AP Singh, the lawyer who defended two of the four accused in the Delhi gang rape case, has every right to criticise the verdict. Columnists must understand the difference between the right to freedom and the right to create a provocative situation. We should be modern in having an open mind, but we must also be careful in the way we dress and conduct ourselves.
