Media trials

PN Saxena
Sir,
This refers to the ongoing media trial against External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. Knowing a rich and well-connected person is no crime. Mr lalit Modi is the founder of the hugely successful Indian Premier league cricket tournament. He had been entertaining a number of people in the course of IPl tournaments and thereafter. If he is tainted, does it mean that all those whom he knows, are also taintedIJ The Delhi High Court had released his passport and considered the cases against him irrelevant to his fundamental right to have a passport. If anybody helps him or his family on humanitarian grounds, that action should not be viewed as a crime. The Congress and the other opposition parties that have been have been targeting Ms Swaraj are making a mountain out of a molehill. Of course, the Congress is adept at fishing in troubled waters. No criminal case has so far been made against Ms Swaraj or Ms Raje. let the Congress enjoy its moments of glory by gaining a few brownie points through the media trials. But it must not forget that it has several skeletons in its cupboard, and they are rattling hard to stumble out in the open.
