Sir — We know Navjot Singh Sidhu as a man with a loud sense of humour and his even louder wardrobe. He was seen on television, laughing with gusto at the jokes cracked by comedian Kapil Sharma. He was also a regular figure during the IPl tournament, doing a post-mortem of games with his brand of jokes and shayaris.
Now, having joined the Congress after hectic negotiations, Sidhu said that he was a “born Congressman” who was coming back to his roots, and would be ready to work under anybody appointed by the high command and contest from where the party wants him to. It is difficult to explain how, because, he has been associated with the BJP ever since he joined politics in 2004.
All said and done, Sidhu is something of a maverick. It is not going to be easy for the Congress to handle him. If he is not placated with the perks of power, he may switch to the rebellion mode quickly.
