Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Munde’s enduring legacy” (June 9). The BJP-Shiv Sena’s massive victory in the lok Sabha election in Maharashtra can be attributed to one person: Mr Narendra Modi. Seen in this backdrop, Gopinath Munde was the BJP’s best bet in Maharashtra because the State lacked a charismatic leader from the party who could hold his own. In this regard, even the Shiv Sena does not inspire confidence. Munde was a name which evoked instant recognition because he was a mass leader.
People remember how Munde’s concept of mahayuti changed the calculations in the static political picture of the State. The loveable leader always spread a sense of warmth and happiness around him.
