Sir — This refers to a report that Rajya Sabha’s productivity is down to 68 per cent. Because of the deadlock in the Upper House over the religious conversion row, many important Bills are stuck. Yet, the saffron brigade has had many re-conversation programmes before. Even Dilip Singh Judeo, the veteran BJP leader, was active in ‘re-converting’ Christians to Hinduism. But the ‘secular’ parties hardly ever raised this issue before.
The matter is being blown out of proportion now to put the Modi Government in trouble. Since the Opposition is in a majority in the Rajya Sabha, the Government can’t do much there. In contrast, the lok Sabha’s high productivity speaks volume about the Modi Government’s commitment to economic reforms.
