Sir — India is looking at an impending energy crisis. Over the past few years, the country’s dependence on imported oil has increased rapidly while domestic exploration and production have hit a plateau. India imports 80 per cent of its oil. Presently, due to a fall in global crude prices, our energy bill is reasonable while inflation is low. But this will not last forever.
Historic lows and record highs form the pattern of global crude prices. If we don’t bring down our dependency on imported fuel and promote domestic exploration, we will suffer soon.
