Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Hounding a General” (September 23). After having undermined all constitutional institutions in its nine-year tenure, the Congress is now playing a dangerous game with the defence establishment.
Retired General VK Singh is paying the price for taking on the weapons’ lobby and criticising the UPA regime for the Armed Forces’ present status of unpreparedness. So far the Armed Forces have maintained professionalism and remained apolitical. The incumbent Chief of Army Staff should bury his differences, if any, with his predecessor, in the interests of the country’s defence forces and not succumb to dirty politics.
