Sir — This refers to the report, “With little allies, BJP isolated in Tamil Nadu” (March 28). BJP leader Subramanian Swamy is popular, but not in Tamil Nadu. This is because (i) he is a brahmin (ii) he has never been active in politics in Tamil Nadu (iii) his politics centres round the national capital (iv) he is not fluent in Tamil (v) he is new to the BJP and is too vocal. The BJP has been unable to groom a leader because the Dravadian parties have held sway in the State for decades.
