Sir — This refers to the editorial “Congratulations, Isro!” (September 25). A dream has come true. India has put a spacecraft in the Mars orbit. Kudos to the Indian Space Research Organisation which has created history. It has brought glory for India, which has become the first country in the world to have reached Mars in its very first attempt.
The US and Russia could reach Mars only after several attempts. Besides, no Asian country has so far succeeded. The mission, from launch of the spacecraft in November 2013 to midway course corrections, and finally the spacecraft’s Mars orbit insertion manoeuvre went exactly according to plan. The low cost of the entire project was another feather in Isro’s cap.
