Sir — This refers to the report, “Rijiju tweet on ‘declining’ Hindu population creates stir” (February 14). It is ridiculous for opposition party leaders like Manish Tewari of the Congress, to accuse the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, for his tweet on the declining Hindu population and conversion practices adopted by other religions. These politicians have deliberately overlooked the Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee’s irresponsible statement alleging that the BJP Government in the State was trying to convert Arunachal Pradesh into a ‘'Hindu State’. This invited prompt response from the Minister, who belongs to Arunachal Pradesh.
Rijiju only reiterated a well-known fact that the Hindus never convert other people, and that minorities are flourishing unlike in some countries around.
