Just populism

Uttam K Bhowmik

Sir — Mr Arvind Kejriwal believes in drama. He is trying to quit because of his ambition of becoming a ‘superpower’ through the lok Sabha election and a player who will use the cards to exploit the people’s honest approach to the Aam Aadmi Party. His effort seems to be a strategy to repair his public image that has been dented in recent weeks by his and his Ministers’ actions, and a conspiracy to violate the people’s mandate and the spirit of running a coalition Government. What he wants to show is power and pride rather than honesty and responsibility.

Does Mr Kejriwal believe in democracy when he disrespects and suspects parliamentary opinion on ‘swaraj’IJ Through gimmicks and dharnas he and his party leaders have been trying to pressure the Union Government and the parliamentary system. Democracy allows for open and universal values for the good of all levels of people, and not just the sections that Mr Kejriwal is targeting to enhance his prestige and credibility among the electorate.
