This refers to the editorial, “Congress-Ishrat Jahan” (March 3). The filing of a second affidavit, overruling the first one, in the Ishrat Jahan encounter case, was a deliberate attempt on part of then Minister for Home Affairs P Chidambaram to please a section of society and fix Mr Narendra Modi, who was then the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Since the security of the nation is at stake, the need of hour is a judicial probe in this issue.
