Sir — Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s reservation about Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi being projected as a prime ministerial candidate, is unethical and undemocratic in coalition politics. A coalition is the conglomeration of like-minded parties with an aim to provide an alternative and better governance to the people.
In any coalition, it is the prerogative of the main party to choose its leader. There can be mutual discussions to iron out ideological differences, as the JD(U) is contending. But to kill the entire alternative through rigid utterances and outbursts is unfair. All the NDA constituents have a duty to the nation, and to the people’s expectation that the UPA regime does not return to power.
