Wrestler from Rohtak Sakshi Malik has finally ended India’s medal's drought at the Rio Olympics in the 58kg freestyle wrestling at repechage round by winning bronze medal. Her performance comes at a time when two other Indian women athletes, Dipa Karmakar and lalita Babbar, have also made a mark at Rio. Malik is the first Indian woman wrestler and fourth Indian woman, after Karnam Malleswari, Saina Nehwal and Mary Kom, to win an Olympic medal. The way she turned the Bronze medal bout around in the last few seconds of the match was amazing. After witnessing another woman wrestler, Vinesh Phogat's, painful exit from the arena, Malik's feat comes as long awaited good news.
And then, of course, with shuttler PV Sindhu making it to the badminton finals — the first Indian woman to do so — India’s Rio Olympics performance has suddenly been taken to an all new high. Women power all the way!
