Imam Bukhari's action is communal and un-Indian

Sagar Singh

This refers to the news report, “Bukhari courts treason, invites Sharif not Modi” (October 31). To invite or not to invite somebody for a

function is the prerogative of the host. But when it is to do with the Imam of Delhi's Jama Masjid, it does not behove to not invite the country's Prime Minister while extending an invite to Pakistan's Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the ‘coronation' of his younger son. He invited four Bharatiya Janata Party stalwarts, including Union Minister Rajnath Singh and Harsh Vardhan. Naturally, they will not go after the Imam's snub to the Prime Minister.

The Imam's parochial view is reprehensible. The Imam's younger

brother has rightly said that, if the Imam is so pre-occupied with Mr Sharif, what prevents him from celebrating this ceremony in PakistanIJ When the Union Government led by Mr Modi has cancelled talks with Pakistan due to the latter's pro-terror attitude, this gesture of the Imam is condemnable.
