Sir — I am a frequent traveller from south India to Vrindavan. I cannot help noticing the utter neglect of Mathura railway station. No prestigious train that originates from the south stops here. The Rajdhani trains from Chennai and Bangalore skip this station. But these trains halt at Agra, which is a symbol of Mughal culture.
Mathura, the place of Krishna’s birth and an important cultural landmark of the country, is not important enough for Indian Railways. This has had another consequence: The neglect of even basic commuter amenities at the Mathura railway station. One hopes the railway administration moves to correct the situation.
