Ideological difference

Bal Govind

This refers to the article, “Strange bedfellows in the making in Bengal” (February 19) by Kalyani Shankar. The Congress and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) know it well that, in case they fight the upcoming election in West Bengal alone, it will be a tough battle for them. Therefore, they are planning of align, so as to give tough competition to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

Whatever it be, the voters cannot be fooled as they know that both the parties have differences ideologies. It would have been better if the Congress aligned with the Trinamool Congress, with whom it shares similar ideology. For the BJP, it is a tough electoral battle. The least that it can do is to showcase the non-performance of the Mamata Government to the people of West Bengal, make inroads and consolidate its position in the State.
