Humanitarian concern

Fahad SH

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a Right-wing politician. When he was elected, my Indian friends were jubilating but I knew that he would play divisive politics. And it seems I was right.

In India, Modi is pushing the narrative that every Kashmiri who is fighting for his right is a terrorist from Pakistan. This will only create more grievances among the Kashmiris and add fuel to their hatred towards India.

For peace in Kashmir, India and Pakistan need to talk, demilitarise the borders, and let Kashmir have semi-autonomous status while being shared by India and Pakistan as is currently the case.

We need to make the line of Control a permanent border, and think of a solution for Kashmir based on humanitarian concerns instead of hatred. We need to think how people can travel across borders, so that they may prosper. Kashmiris should be allowed to choose between Indian and Pakistani citizenship.
