Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Wrestlers awaiting prize” (September 12). It is shocking that, due to red tapism and shoddy attitude of the Haryana Government, the Phogat sisters are being deprived of the cash rewards which was promised to them in 2012.
Vinesh Phogat, who was one of the medal contenders for the country at Rio Olympics, got seriously injured during the bout. Had she won a medal, there would have been a beeline to reward her.
At a time when none other than the Prime Minister himself is keen on improving our medal tally in next two Olympics, such attitude is the last thing that our sportspersons deserve. It is really disheartening that such talented sportspersons have to run from pillar to post for their well-deserved awards.
