Half justice

MC Joshi

Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Bold, welcome verdict” (May 6). The Supreme Court’s verdict upholding the death sentence to four convicts in the brutal Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case has strengthened the people's faith in the rule of law and the judiciary. The

apex court rightly said that if ever a case called for hanging, this was that.

However, I feel that Nirbhaya would have got justice fully if the sixth person, the juvenile (one committed suicide in the jail), who had been the most brutal of all and deserved the capital punishment more than others, would have also been sent to the gallows instead of serving just a three-year term in a reformatory home.
