Letter to the Editor

Great understanding

Yvonne Fernando
Sir — This refers to the editorial, “The Ayodhya challenge” (March 23). It is laudable that the Chief Justice of India has offered to mediate in talks to end the Ayodhya temple-mosque dispute. Though his idea sounds genuine, one really wonders whether such talks can result in an amicable solution.
For a real solution to be arrived at, total sacrifice from one side will be inevitable, which is a distant possibility. The only solution, to convert the disputed sight into an undisputed sight, is for both parties to arrive at an understanding, to convert the sight into a global centre concentrating on medication to the poor and the needy, high-tech support to the differently-abled and saving the nature and in turn the universe and any other needs of humanity.
