Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Indeed, nation is supreme” (March 12). As rightly mentioned in the editorial, the ruling Congress doesn’t need to teach secularism to the BJP. Secularism is treating every religion equally and not using minorities as mere vote-banks.
Unfortunately, most of the times, perception becomes stronger than reality, and the BJP has perhaps not benefitted much by being labelled a pro-Hindu outfit. Yet, it was the same party that was instrumental in elevating APJ Abdul Kalam as the President of India. Mr Narendra Modi is well within his rights to set India as his first priority. He has an established track record of governance behind him, hence he must be given his due.
