Forked-tongue politicos

Sarita Negi

Sir —This refers to the article, “Valley’s separatist-sounding netas” (July 1) by Hari Om. It is unfortunate that most Kashmiri leaders speak in the interest of Pakistan, rather than the country of which, whether they like it or not, are an inalienable part. But why do they talk the language of separatistsIJ The answer is the weak policy of the Congress-led UPA Government which has a ‘handle-with-kid-gloves’ approach towards these leaders.

Ever so often, our brave soldiers are targeted by militants, as happened recently, or are beheaded and brutalised by intruding Pakistani troopers, but one never hears any of these leaders, including Mr Abdullah ever condemning these attacks. Today they are all for talks with Pakistan! By all means hold talks, but not at the cost of one’s own land, its people and their sovereignty.
