This refers to the editorial, “Opposition unity farce” (December 29). It is out of sheer desperation that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee are senselessly targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on demonetisation and alleging “personal corruption” against him. The BJP’s victory in various local body elections and by-elections, held after demonetisation, has made it clear that people are not with them who are making noise on the issue. The Supreme Court too said that allegations against Modi have no proof and refused to order an inquiry on the same.
Both the leaders are asking for the Prime Minister’s resignation. There is no such demand from the people who, inspite of facing a lot of hardship, are by and large happy and satisfied that demonetisation has deprived the corrupt and the dishonest of their illegal wealth and also brought them into the net.
