This refers to the article, “Checks and balances to ensure soldiers’ safety” (March 1) by Ashok K Mehta. Sadly, while dealing with the problem in Jammu & Kashmir, the author failed to provide for a solution to the current imbroglio in the border State.
The Army too is at fault for getting involved in activities which are the domain of the police administration. This is because of the self-assumed security baggage that it takes. In reality, the Army is just one component in the whole anti-terror operation.
