Sir — This refers to the editorial, “Both education and safety” (July 24). You have rightly said that Uttar Pradesh Police leaves no stone unturned in searching out seven lost buffaloes of a powerful Minister, while no Minister or the Chief Minister has consoled the upset parents of the girls. It is the same State Government which has been exaggerating development in the State. But the truth lies in the fact that, ever since the Samajwadi Party came into power in 2012, the crime graph has headed north. The law and order situation was far better during the Government headed by Ms Mayawati, when ruffians had gone into hibernation.
